Lunchtime Play Leader job summary
St Francis Church of England Primary School & Nursery is a warm, ambitious and inclusive school in the heart of Bournville, proud to be part of the Fioretti Trust. We are committed to providing our children with a rich and varied school experience, and our lunchtime provision is a central part of that. We are an OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) school, and we take enormous pride in the quality, creativity and freedom of the play environment we offer our children every day.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring Lunchtime Play Leader to join our team and help bring our OPAL play programme to life. This is a hands-on, active role in which you will help to set up and resource our play environment, supervise and engage with children across the school during lunchtime, and support the kind of imaginative, child-led play that lies at the heart of the OPAL approach. You will encourage children to take appropriate risks, explore their environment, develop friendships and build resilience — all while ensuring they feel safe, supported and genuinely happy.
You will be someone who loves being around children, brings energy and warmth to everything you do, and understands that lunchtime is not simply a break in the school day — it is a vital part of a child's development and wellbeing. Experience of working with children is welcome, though not essential; what matters most is the right attitude, a genuine care for children and a willingness to get stuck in.
This is a part-time role working during the lunchtime period. You will be joining a friendly and supportive team who are passionate about play and about making St Francis a wonderful place to be.
