Lunchtime Supervisor - Fixed term job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed, hardworking, enthusiastic individual to join our pupil supervision team. This role requires you to be flexible, adaptable and be able to show compassion and empathy whilst remaining assertive.
This role is fixed term covering maternity leave until the 31st of October 2027, or the return to duty of the substantive post holder whichever is the earliest.
We are looking for someone who will join our team who will:
- Have the ability to work with and communicate effectively with pupils and staff.
- Provide support/supervision for pupils during lunch periods both in and out of the dining hall to ensure a safe environment at all times.
- Support the Academy in ensuring the safety and welfare of all pupils.
- Ensure all misbehaviour is reported using Academy procedures and that no behaviour goes unchallenged.
- Be an enthusiastic and good team member.
- Deal with any injuries as they occur and report any issues to the relevant class teacher at the end of the lunch break.
- Encourage and support pupils during the lunch break to participate in organised games.
- Have the skills to ensure that lunchtimes are safe, healthy and fun.
You will have:
- A good standard of education especially in numeracy and literacy.
- Good negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills with staff and pupils.
- The ability to relate well to children.
- Energy, drive and enthusiasm.

Airedale Junior Academy and Airedale Infant Academy are situated in Airedale, Castleford in West Yorkshire. Both academies are dedicated to providing the very best education possible for all the pupils who attend. We are tireless in ensuring every pupil meets their full potential academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. With around 230 pupils in the infants, and 380 pupils in the juniors, both schools work in close collaboration with one another under one headteacher to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment for our pupils and the local Airedale community.
