Job Title: Lunchtime Supervisor

Actual Annual Salary: £3,969 - £3,741 (£12.60 - £12.86 per hour)

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £24,533 - £24,819(Grade Ai)

Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time, Term time only.

Hours: 6.67 hours per week

Additional role info: Monday to Friday

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to join our primary school community as a Lunchtime Supervisor with a strong emphasis on outdoor play and positive social interaction.

You will still be part of a friendly and supportive lunchtime team, but your role will have a distinct focus on leading play, encouraging cooperation, and nurturing children’s wellbeing through active, engaging experiences.

As a key adult on the playground, you will help children build confidence, develop teamwork and communication skills, and enjoy a structured but fun break in their day. You’ll introduce simple games and activities, help children navigate friendships, and model positive behaviour—ensuring that lunchtimes remain a happy, inclusive and secure part of school life.

We are looking for someone who is friendly, reliable, proactive and enjoys being outdoors, whatever the weather. If you have a natural rapport with children and want to make a meaningful difference in just one hour a day, this role could be perfect for you. You will play an important part in shaping a positive school culture and contributing to children’s wellbeing, confidence and enjoyment of school life.

You will have:  

  • good relationship-building skills and able to proactively engage with students and other staff members.  
  • strong interpersonal skills, in particular demonstrates empathy and active listening. 
  • the ability to deal with inappropriate behaviour in a calm and non-judgemental way, following academy guidance. 
  • patience, be calm and be able to work under pressure 
  • positive values and attitudes in order to be a role model to our students.

Herons' Moor Academy is a 420 place Primary school plus a nursery for 3 year olds. We have 60 places for each year group and as a popular local school, we are usually full.
HMA is located in The Campus, a community building in Weston Super Mare. This is a real privilege as we share our site with Baytree Special School.
We were last inspected by Ofsted in March 2020 where it was deemed, we are still a good school. This has been true since 2009.
