Mathematics KS5 Coordinator job summary
We are seeking to appoint an experienced KS5 Teacher of Mathematics for September 2021, who can deliver high quality learning opportunities for our students in Maths. The Mathematics Department is one of the strongest in the school. Academic performance at all levels is excellent and continues to set new records.
The Department is housed in its own suite of 11 purpose built teaching rooms with Promethean Interactive Whiteboards available in each classroom and used extensively both in lessons and to support independent study. There is a study room which is used extensively by the Sixth From students and a staff room for the Mathematics teachers. The Mathematics block was opened in October 2019 and provides an exceptional working environment with easy access to IT facilities. There are ten full-time and two part-time well qualified, hard working and dedicated teachers. Teaching colleagues give freely of their time over and above their contractual commitment and are determined to ensure every student enjoys success in the subject.
Both Mathematics and Further Mathematics are offered at GCSE. Mathematics is increasingly very popular in the Sixth Form with about 65% of the students studying the subject. In Year 12 there are 137 students who study A Level Mathematics, 26 of whom also study A Level Further Mathematics. In Year 13, 111 students study A Level Mathematics, 20 of whom also study A Level Further Mathematics. The main reasons for the popularity of the subject at A Level is the enjoyment the students gain from their studies in Mathematics and their learning experiences at all key stages. Also the exceptional results at GCSE and A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics continue to attract candidates to study at the school.
