About the Role
We are seeking a committed and ambitious Maths Teacher to join our secondary school. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving student attainment and progress, delivering high-quality lessons that support strong outcomes in Mathematics.
You will be responsible for ensuring students develop fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills, with a clear focus on raising achievement in line with curriculum expectations and whole-school improvement priorities.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching, Progress & Outcomes- Deliver high-quality Maths teaching across KS3 and KS4 .
- Plan and deliver structured sequences of learning that secure strong progress for all learners.
- Use assessment data effectively to identify gaps in knowledge and accelerate student progress.
- Ensure teaching leads to strong attainment and improved examination outcomes.
- Provide timely, precise feedback that supports improvement in mathematical understanding and skills.
- Set ambitious, data-informed targets and monitor student progress closely.
- Deliver well-structured lessons that develop fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving.
- Ensure curriculum intent is effectively translated into strong classroom practice.
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and disadvantaged students.
- Maintain consistently high expectations for effort, accuracy, and academic standards.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, resources, and departmental improvement.
- Establish and maintain a calm, focused learning environment in line with school expectations.
- Apply behaviour policies consistently to ensure disruption-free learning.
- Promote excellent routines that maximise learning time and mathematical practice.
- Contribute to improving attainment and progress within the Maths department and across the school.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and improve teaching quality.
- Support whole-school priorities, including numeracy, literacy, and disadvantaged student outcomes.
- Contribute to intervention and support strategies to close gaps and raise achievement.
- Undertake form tutor responsibilities, supporting attendance, behaviour, and personal development.
- Contribute to PSHE and wider character education programmes where required.
- Participate in duties, cover supervision, and wider school expectations.
- Engage with parents and carers to support student progress and achievement in Maths.
We are looking for a teacher who is:

- Confident in using assessment and data to drive progress.
- Able to deliver consistently strong teaching aligned to Ofsted expectations.
- Reflective, resilient, and committed to professional growth.
- A strong team player with high expectations for all learners.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject.
- Strong knowledge of KS3-KS4 Maths curriculum.
- Evidence of improving student progress and attainment (ECTs welcome to apply).
- A strong focus on teaching quality and student outcomes in Mathematics.
- Supportive and collaborative Maths department.
