Teacher, Suitable for NQTs
£25,714 – £41,604
We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher to join our Mathematics team on a full-time basis to start in September 2021. We would especially encourage applications from current trainees and NQTs, who would have access to a comprehensive range of support and guidance at Toynbee. We would also welcome applications from more experienced teachers.
You will join a highly successful and well-resourced Maths Department that has been enormously successful over the past few years with official Progress 8 scores of +0.17 in 2017, +0.27 in 2018, and +0.30 in 2019; in 2020 it was +0.60. This is all built on consistent approaches to teaching and assessment, and having the belief that all children will achieve their potential; the department really does embody the school motto of “Personal Best”. While we are very proud of these outcomes for our students, we remain driven and determined to improve even further. We are keen to employ a teacher who will share in this commitment.
It is an exciting time to be joining Toynbee School as we embark on a new journey of improvement. We are committed to providing an inspiring educational experience that is aspirational for all our pupils. Our belief is that everyone is entitled to be successful, to be cared for and to be supported. We are proud of the community we serve and the positive relationships fostered between staff, pupils and parents that are characterised by trust, respect and mutual support. We were categorized as ‘Good’ by OFSTED in October 2015 and again in April 2019. We offer all staff:
• An extensive CPD and Induction programme
• Excellent facilities
• A supportive team environment
• Membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme
We have an excellent track record of developing and supporting our staff to progress both professionally and in their career. All our teachers have the opportunity to enrol on the Teachers Pensions Scheme. The school is situated in Chandlers Ford with easy access to the M3 and M27.
If you feel that you could contribute to the Maths Department’s continued success and if you would like to work in a school which is genuinely supportive and developmental then we would be delighted to hear from you.

About The Toynbee School
I am delighted that you are considering applying to be a Teacher of Maths at Toynbee School. We are proud to be a holistic and inclusive school that promotes the highest expectations of our pupils. It is an exciting time in our development as a school and we are determined to further improve on our journey to become “outstanding”. We are proud of our successful OFSTED inspections in 2015 and 2019, however, we are never complacent and know that there is always more we can do to improve Toynbee for pupils, staff and the wider community. Our pupils know that they are at the centre of all we do and as a result they play a significant role in shaping the school's improvement.
Toynbee is a friendly school with a strong reputation in the local neighbourhood for excellent results and delivering on its 'Personal Best ethos'. Our parents have described the school as "a gem in Chandler's Ford", and our pupils’ aspirations and dreams for their future are the central focus of our work here. We believe that only through full participation in school life can our pupils become the most incredible person they can be. We want them to thrive and develop their potential through every opportunity offered to them, both within and beyond the classroom. Our pupils can enjoy exceptional teaching, with friendly and respectful support alongside some of the best extra -curricular provision the County has to offer.
Our academic curriculum is traditional and there is plenty of choice for all pupils’ talents to be recognised. We pride ourselves on finding flexibility for individuals' needs and whilst this is provided for across the schools' academic and extra-curricular activities, it is especially evident in our Visually Impaired Resource Centre that supports VI pupils across Hampshire and beyond.
When pupils join Toynbee they are put into one of four houses and it is through our House System that pupils are given the chance to earn rewards, achievement points and enter inter-house competitions, which both reinforce and celebrate the gifts and talents of our pupils.
Alongside the impressive exam results our pupils achieve; we want them to grasp every opportunity to learn a new skill or participate in an event which stretches and enriches them. We believe that opportunities taken open doors and develop the whole person. None of this could be achieved without our excellent Guidance Support Team who enable our pupils to flourish and grow in confidence and ability during their time with us.
If you are ready for the next challenge in your career, and would like to be part of this dynamic, exciting journey, we look forward to receiving your application.
