Medical Officer (Secondary) job summary

About the Role 

We are seeking a highly organised, compassionate and proactive Medical Officer to support the health, safety and wellbeing of students at Noel Baker Academy. 

 

This is an important support role within the academy, acting as the lead first aider and first point of contact for all student medical needs. You will provide day-to-day medical support to students, staff and visitors, ensuring that care is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with academy procedures. 

 

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate medical records, managing medication and medical supplies, and supporting the implementation of healthcare and intimate care plans. Working closely with staff, parents/carers and external professionals, you will help ensure that students with medical needs are fully supported to access education. 

 

This role requires someone who is calm under pressure, well organised and able to respond sensitively to students’ needs in a busy school environment. 


What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Have experience in first aid or be willing to obtain and maintain a relevant qualification. 
  • Be confident in providing first aid and responding appropriately to a range of medical situations. 
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate and confidential records in line with GDPR requirements. 
  • Be able to manage medication, medical equipment and supplies safely and effectively. 
  • Have excellent communication skills and build positive relationships with students, staff and parents/carers. 
  • Be able to use initiative and make sound decisions, particularly in time-sensitive situations. 
  • Show a strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and supporting the needs of all students. 
  • This role would suit someone who is caring, practical and committed to making a positive difference to students’ daily experience in school.
