Your role:
As a Midday Assistant, you will supervise and support pupils during lunchtime, ensuring their safety and promoting appropriate behaviour. You will also facilitate a smooth and orderly lunch period, challenge inappropriate behaviour, handle incidents, and report them. Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all students is a key part of your role.
To be successful in this role, you should have the ability to manage groups of students and work as part of a team. Strong communication skills with colleagues and students are essential, as is the ability to encourage high standards of behaviour and remain calm under pressure. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the Academy are also important. Knowledge of safeguarding in education is essential, and experience working with children and young people is desirable.

Our midday team plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive and safe lunchtime experience for our students. The Academy’s Ofsted inspection in November 2024 noted that “pupils benefit from a welcoming environment where diversity is celebrated. They enjoy celebrating each other’s differences and participating in cultural activities. The school provides an ambitious curriculum that ensures pupils develop a strong foundation of knowledge and skills from Year 3 through to Year 13, preparing them well for their next stage of education or employment. The Ofsted inspection rated all areas, including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and sixth-form provision, as 'Good'”.
At Thomas Deacon Academy, we believe in the power of courtesy, commitment, compassion, courage, curiosity, and confidence. These values are at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for someone who embodies them in their work.
