St Michael's CE Middle School is looking for a Midday Supervisor to join our fantastic team. Could this be you?
Actual Salary £3,626 per annum (Grade 1)
This job is Part Time - Term Time Only for 6.25 hours per week and 38 weeks per year.
It is offered on a temporary basis until 31.08.2027
Approximate start date October 2026.
St Michaels Middle School is looking to recruit a dedicated individual to join our team. We are looking for someone who takes pride in creating a safe space for students during the midday break and who can respond in a calm and caring manner when dealing with pupils and responding to accidents and carrying out first aid. You will be confident when dealing with pupils, a good communicator and be able to work as part of our existing team.
You will be required to work Monday - Friday, between the hours of 12-2:15pm. The exact working pattern will be discussed during interview.
Key responsibilities:
- To supervise pupils in designated areas of the school during the midday break and to ensure their safety, welfare and general conduct through appropriate application of the Trust/school's policies and procedures.
- To establish safe and appropriate behaviour by effective intervention or referral to senior staff.
- To supervise the movement of pupils to and from dining areas, including any personal hygiene requirements.
- To maintain good order in dining areas.
- To assist pupils, where necessary, with the collection of food and return of trays, or other items to the service counter.
- To assist pupils, where necessary, with the proper use of cutlery, drinking facilities or other aspects of the midday meal.
- To assist in the clearance of any spillages and wiping down, clearing or resetting of tables, as appropriate.
- To assist in the setting up and removal of furniture where necessary.
- To take any immediate action to attend to illness or accidents by carrying out minor first aid and summoning relevant assistance.
- To report any unauthorised visitors on school premises.
- To complete any documentation required by the school in relation to incidents occurring during the lunchtime break period and to participate in review meetings, as required.
- Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in accordance with the Trust’s safeguarding and child protection policy.
Essential knowledge and skills:
Experience of following procedures and processes
Previous experience of working in a school would be desirable
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Be able to establish positive expectations of pupil behaviour
Have a sensitivity to pupils’personal needs
Be organised, methodical and a clear communicator
Fluency in English for all student and public-facing roles.

Founded in 1971 St Michael’s Middle School is a Church of England school set in stunning grounds in Colehill, on the outskirts of Wimborne Minster, Dorset. With around 600 pupils, our school covers year groups 5-8 (ages 9 to 13) and is consistently oversubscribed on first choice applications.
