Minibus Driver job summary

We are seeking to appoint a Home to School minibus driver to join our team. The successful candidates will ensure the safety and security of students during their commutes, being responsible for creating a safe environment by maintaining high standards of behaviour within the minibus, enforcing essential safety rules and protocols to minimise the risk of accidents and incidents.

The successful candidate will hold a full clean UK driving licence, have a basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance, good interpersonal skills including being able to communicate with people at different levels, be friendly, approachable, reliable and punctual.

What will you need?

• Full, clean driving licence is required

• Proven basic vehicle maintenance skills

• Experience in a driving role

• Experience of undertaking basic grounds maintenance

• Ability to understand and adhere to Child Protection and Safeguarding legislation

• Experience in a similar setting would be advantageous

• Have the right to work in the UK

• Pass an enhanced criminal record check for you as you will be working with children, young persons.

DRIVER ROLE

• Transport students to and from school and be available to drive students to and from Academy trips during the day.

• To work in an effective, safe, flexible manner and support the operation of the company.

• To quickly establish positive and professional relationships with students, their carers / parents and other key people.

• To keep the vehicle in a roadworthy, clean, and tidy manner always.

• To make yourself available both am and pm on all school days.

• Experience in a similar setting would be advantageous

DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

• Hold a valid UK driving licence.

• Be able to drive our Academy minibus 14-seater.

• Previous experience would be beneficial but not essential.

• Pass an enhanced criminal record check for you as you will be working with children, young persons.

• The core role of the Minibus Driver is to operate a morning and afternoon bus route, both driving and taking responsibility for the children in their care.

• Ideally the successful candidate holds a D1 category, preferably unendorsed, driving licence. D1 was automatically granted on most driving licences issued before 1997. For the right candidate the school may fund the necessary training to allow the successful candidate to undertake the D1 test. MIDAS training will be given to successful applicants where required.

• Hours to be discussed at interview but likely to be 15-20 hours per week (possibly more) 

• Have the right to work in the UK

• Pass an enhanced criminal record check for you as you will be working with children, young persons.
