The Role

Working closely alongside our Nursery Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the safe, high-quality and effective daily operational management of our nursery and daycare provision.

As a key leader, your responsibilities will include:

  • Deputising & Leadership: Taking full operational responsibility for the nursery in the absence of the Nursery Manager to ensure seamless service continuity.
  • Safeguarding Support: Acting as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to maintain a proactive, robust culture of child protection.
  • Staff Mentoring & Operations: Managing daily staff deployment and ratios, while conducting peer observations, supervisions and directly mentoring Room Leaders, practitioners, and students.
  • Curriculum & Inclusion: Supporting teams to deliver a rich, inclusive EYFS curriculum that meets the unique needs of all children, including those with SEND.
  • Partnership & Admin: Fostering strong collaborative relationships with families and assisting with admissions and booking systems to optimise nursery occupancy.

About You

We are looking for a resilient, enthusiastic, and highly organised leader who brings:

  • Qualifications: A full and relevant minimum Level 4 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (or equivalent), alongside GCSE Grade C/4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English. (A Foundation Degree, BA Hons, EYPS, or QTS is highly desirable).
  • Experience: At least two years of experience in a leadership or senior role (such as a Room Leader) within an EYFS environment.
  • Knowledge: An in-depth working knowledge of the EYFS statutory framework, child development, Ofsted regulations and experience supporting children with SEND.
  • Key Skills: Excellent communication and strategic problem-solving abilities, with the confidence to motivate a team, analyse data and manage a demanding workload with high accuracy.
  • Certifications: Valid Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding training (training can be updated/provided if required).

Please Note: This role is regarded as being in regulated activity with respect to children. The successful candidate will require an enhanced DBS check with a barred list check.
