What skills and experience we're looking for

  • Qualifications

NVQ level III, CACHE level III certificate in pre-school practice or equivalent

Experience

Previous experience of working with young children in Foundation Stage

  • Knowledge

A sound knowledge and understanding of early childhood development and of how children learn

Good understanding of:

Child development and its importance

Planning, assessment and observations

Up-to-date knowledge of Early Years Curriculum and documentation

Understanding of how a Keyworker system operates

Understanding of equal opportunities

Basic knowledge of safety issues involved in operating a pre-school

Appreciation of need for discretion and maintaining confidentiality

  • Skills

Ability to plan and organise

Good communication skills (both written and oral)

Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibility and own position with in these

Ability to effectively use ICT to support learning

Ability to work on own initiative

  • Safeguarding

Suitability to work with children

Is aware of the policy of safeguarding and promoting

the welfare of children
