Strategic direction

  • Promote and encourage an effective ethos that supports the vision, aims and policies of the nursery school.
  • To continue to develop good working partnerships with staff team, parents, other agencies, professionals and local community, communicating, consulting and reporting as appropriate.
  • To model effective practice to staff, students and visitors.
  • To provide an excellent EYFS provision which meets the needs of all children across our mainstream provision.
  • Ensuring high quality opportunities and experience through close working with Headteacher and other agencies.
  • Contribute to School Improvement Plan, SEF and policy writing as required by Headteacher.
  • Provide the Headteacher with relevant and up-to date information on children’s achievement.

Learning and Teaching

  • To model effective teaching that engages interests of all children and meets their learning needs in line with Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
  • To support the staff team in planning and preparing effective learning experiences which reflect children’s interests, learning styles, developmental needs and special educational needs of children.
  • Lead a team of highly experienced Early Years Practitioners, utilising their knowledge and experiences across the Early Years curriculum.
  • To support the Headteacher in the monitoring and evaluating of teaching and learning – collating and analysing data for children to ensure a responsive curriculum, and inform SEF and the School Improvement Plan.
  • Support Headteacher in the team development of observational record keeping and documentation of children’s learning.

Leadership and Management

  • Keeping abreast of relevant current research and dissemination within the team.
  • Have active commitment to CPD, ability to lead by example, this may include conferences, research or appropriate courses. Share acquired expertise with colleagues and/or a wider audience.
  • To be accountable to the Headteacher for a concise picture of each child’s learning and development, current effective strategies including information for TAC meetings.
  • Assist the Headteacher with induction processes and professional development of staff, students and visitors.
  • To have an awareness of safeguarding needs within the children, ensure vigilance and effective safeguarding practice in line with policy and procedure.

Resource Management

  • Support nursery team in developing and maintain a high quality, rich, stimulating learning environment indoors and outdoors.
  • Ensure resources are appropriate, meet the needs of all the children and advise Headteacher of priorities for expenditure.
