Office Administrator job summary

At Mendip Green Primary School, we have a new position open for an office administrator to join a friendly administrative team.

We are seeking a reliable and organised office administrator, this is a front‑facing role, supporting the smooth day‑to‑day running of the school office and providing high‑quality administrative, financial and organisational support.

You will be one of the first points of contact for pupils, parents, staff and visitors, helping to create a welcoming, efficient and professional environment while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and compliance with school and trust policies.

Hours: 25 hours per week over 4 days with a 45 min lunch break, 8:30am - 3:30pm. Permanent contract, term-time only

Actual Salary: E3 - £15,615.47

Closing date: 20 May 2026 by midday

Key responsibilities

  • Provide efficient front‑of‑house reception and office support in line with safeguarding procedures
  • Maintain accurate pupil and staff records using the school’s management information system (MIS)
  • Prepare and produce documents, correspondence and reports, including confidential material
  • Support pupil admissions processes and maintain accurate waiting lists
  • Maintain paper and electronic filing systems in accordance with data protection and record retention policies
  • Assist with school meals administration, newsletters, events, trips, fundraising and website updates
  • Record health and safety incidents and support compliance with statutory requirements
  • Process financial data including income, expenditure, orders, invoicing and banking information
  • Assist with HR administration including staff absence records, personnel files and training arrangements
  • Provide administrative support to the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of office systems and procedures
  • Carry out other duties appropriate to the grade as required
