Operation & Facilities Manager job summary

Jewish Community Academy Trust (JCAT) is seeking an Operations & Facilities Manager to join our central team and take responsibility for the smooth running of all our school sites. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference to the development of our schools while ensuring they are safe, inspiring spaces for learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Management: Oversee maintenance work, capital projects and operational contracts at each of our school sites. Review security plan and attend out of hours if required.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with safety procedures, conduct site inspections, and manage risk assessments and statutory checks (e.g., fire safety, asbestos, legionella).
  • Energy & Utilities: Monitor energy usage and support sustainability initiatives to reduce consumption.
  • Supporting schools: Build strong relationship with Headteachers and ne the interaction between the school and major works contractors.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Background in estates management or facilities services, with a strong understanding of health & safety legislation. Experience of working in the education sector is a plus.
  • Management Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop teams, manage contractors, and handle multiple priorities.
  • Qualifications: NEBOSH, COSHH, and IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent) preferred, but not essential.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: A strong focus on the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
