What skills and experience we're looking for
This is an excellent opportunity for someone to become part of King’s Oak Primary’s exciting journey as a member of the Leadership Team. The successful candidate will take overall leadership of behaviour across the school, reporting to the Assistant Headteacher. We are a large primary school of approximately 850 pupils currently on roll. Our school consists of two buildings on a large site and amazing learning facilities such as a farm and specialist rooms for art, music and cookery.
We are looking to appoint an exceptional Pastoral Leader who is passionate, hard-working,and versatile to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a positive learning environment, further developing existing successful systems for rewarding good behaviour, and supporting pupils to improve their behaviour over time, including writing personalised behaviour plans. They will support colleagues to develop their behaviour management skills, including providing whole-staff training and personalised support as required. There is no class teacher responsibility with this role, but the successful candidate will provide 10 hours of cover for Phase and Deputy Phase leads each week.
The successful candidate will have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Significant experience in supporting pupils, particularly those from a disadvantaged background
Experience of leading a successful team
An understanding of the impact of trauma on children
Excellent knowledge of effective teaching and learning with high expectations for achievement and behaviour.
Experience of the use of de-escalation strategies and training for positive handling
