Pastoral Support Team (PST) Leader job summary
In this role, you will lead pastoral care across our school, working with some of our most vulnerable children as well as a range of stakeholders including staff, parents, other schools, external professionals and community friends.

Cherry Tree Primary School has recently been re-awarded the National Nurturing Schools award. This programme recognises the nurturing culture in our school, and our glowing report truly reflects the excellent work in this area. We focus on the emotional needs and development of our pupils to ready them for their academic learning in a whole school environment.
You will receive support from a dedicated mentor who will guide you through an excellent CPD programme which offers bespoke support and training, as well as the opportunity to learn from senior staff, including other pastoral leaders across the Trust in a truly collaborative way. Working together also allows us to maximise the benefits of sharing good practice, knowledge and expertise.
We are looking for a Pastoral leader who:
- is passionate about working with children
- is enthusiastic, energetic and hardworking can monitor and develop pastoral provision throughout the school and will stay abreast of the national and local pastoral agenda
- has proficient computing skills and can analyse and present data
- can support teachers with managing behaviour
- can provide support for students whose behaviours are creating a barrier to learning or are at risk of exclusion.
- will provide advice, support, training and modelling in pastoral therapies
- will continue to lead on the National Nurturing Schools programme
- is able to contribute to the school development plan to review and drive continued success
- can lead, motivate, support and inspire staff by modelling high expectations
- will manage new initiatives
- will support parents to ensure they are partners in their child’s education
- will ensure full compliance with the Trusts safeguarding policy
- will work collaboratively across the Trust.

The Selection Criteria document is critical in the process and sets out the requirements which the person appointed should have in order to perform the duties of the post satisfactorily and against which applicants will be assessed. The selection criteria will be used throughout the recruitment process as an objective test of assessing candidates at shortlisting, test and interview stages. Shortlisting will be completed by assessing against the advertised person specification. Our interviews will always include relevant questions relating to teaching and will include questions on child protection and/or safeguarding, behaviour and safety. There will also be an observation element to the selection day and a task.

Cherry Tree Primary School is situated in North Watford, near the Asda/Sainsbury’s Dome roundabout. We have two classes in each year group. We have well equipped classrooms, extensive grounds, a multi-use games area, an allotment, an outside classroom and wildlife area. We converted to academy status on 1st February 2018 and we are part of the Inclusive Multi Academy Trust (IMAT).
