What skills and experience we're looking for
At New City College’s Redbridge campus, we are proud of the diverse and vibrant community of learners we serve. We are now seeking an ESOL Pastoral Tutor to join us on a part-time, permanent basis, supporting 16–19-year-old ESOL learners to achieve their potential and make the most of their time at college.
Working with ESOL students requires a thoughtful and individualised approach. Our learners come from a wide range of backgrounds and may have differing levels of English language proficiency, educational experience and support needs. Some may also face additional challenges or vulnerabilities that can affect their wellbeing, engagement and progress.
In this role, you will provide consistent pastoral support through weekly group tutorials and one-to-one sessions, helping learners to build confidence, set goals, overcome barriers and stay engaged with their studies. You will work closely with teaching staff and support teams to monitor attendance and progress, identify learners who may be at risk, and ensure appropriate and timely support is put in place.
Beyond academic support, you will contribute to enrichment activities, promote wellbeing and personal development, and help create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment in which our ESOL learners can thrive.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people while being part of a supportive and dedicated team.
