People Advisor job summary

Lydiate Learning Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced People Advisor to join our People and Culture Team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys building strong relationships, supporting leaders and making a positive difference to the employee experience. Working closely with Headteachers, senior leaders and managers across our Trust, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality people support that enables our schools and staff to thrive.

As a trusted People Advisor, you will provide professional, practical and solution-focused advice across a broad range of HR and employee relations matters, helping leaders navigate complex situations with confidence while ensuring our people feel valued, supported and empowered to succeed.

About the Role

Working in partnership with school leaders and central teams, you will:

  • Provide expert advice and support on all aspects of employee relations and people management.
  • Manage a varied caseload, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, flexible working and investigation matters.
  • Support leaders to develop their confidence and capability in managing people effectively.
  • Contribute to wellbeing, engagement and workforce development initiatives across the Trust.
  • Ensure HR policies, procedures and practices remain compliant with employment legislation and best practice.
  • Support recruitment, talent management and succession planning activities.
  • Use people data and insight to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive culture across our schools and central services.
About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience managing employee relations casework and advising managers on a range of people matters.
  • Possesses strong generalist HR knowledge and a sound understanding of UK employment law.
  • Builds positive, credible and professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Has excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills.
  • Is organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
  • Is proactive, solutions-focused and committed to delivering a high-quality service.
  • Shares our commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, safeguarding and continuous improvement.
  • Has experience working within education, public sector or complex organisations, or is keen to develop their career within the education sector.
