Performance Director: Sixth Form (Head of Year) job summary

Full Time

MPS/UPS plus fringe, with TLR 2c

Start date: June 2024 or September 2024

We are looking to appoint a talented, enthusiastic and ambitious Performance Director (Head of Year) to play a key part within our large and committed sixth form pastoral team. Sandringham School operates the largest sixth form in Hertfordshire with over 550 students. You will be responsible for a year group of students’ academic achievement across the curriculum as well as leading a team of committed tutors overseeing the pastoral care and personal development of students. You will be supported by a team of dedicated staff. The successful candidate will oversee the leadership and management of our new year 12 cohort starting in September 2024. Our students are really enthusiastic and hard-working, and love taking part in all wider aspects of school life. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who wants to join a school with unrivalled opportunities and gain significant experience to further enhance their career, like one of our staff members:

"I worked in digital marketing after my degree and then chose to train as a teacher. I joined Sandringham as an NQT and immediately enjoyed the wide of opportunities to become involved in. I have really enjoyed multiple trips and visits, and extended learning days. This has led me to pursue a pastoral leadership role as Performance Director which has been the right pathway for me. I really enjoy coordinating a year group and the many different interactions that I have with students, parents and staff to bring out the very best in every one of them. I love being a part of their whole development, supporting the students to thrive and progress throughout the year. My current year group is Year 7- it has been so rewarding to see them settle in and become a full part of the school community. I am really well supported by the wider pastoral team, we can always come together to solve problems and work as a team. Every day is different and the rewards in this role are extensive." – Frances, Performance Director

This position is initially offered as a fixed term contract (maternity cover), preferably starting after the summer half term in June 2024 until August 2025. This start date will allow the successful candidate to support the transition process of students starting in year 12 throughout the summer term. We will consider applicants looking to commence the role from September 2024. Please express your preferred start date within your letter of application.

If this is something you are looking for in your career, please don't hesitate and we would love to hear from you!
