What skills and experience we're looking for

We'reseeking a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant to join our enthusiastic team on a permanent basis.

Working as a TA within our school you will support individuals and groups of children with their learning, assist with the teaching and learning environment and lead interventions for pupils including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and contribute to creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment.

You’ll be involved in supporting a wide range of classroom activities, from phonics sessions and educational visits to promoting positive behaviour and well-being. You'll also build strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and outside agencies where this is relevant.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds at least GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grades A–C or 9–4)
  • Has a relevant Level 2 qualification (e.g.NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) OR has relevant experience equivalent to the role demonstrable at interview
  • Has or is working towards a Level 2 or 3 qualification
  • Has experience working with children in a school setting
  • Communicates effectively and demonstrates strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Is empathetic, patient, and committed to inclusive education
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and child protection
  • Experience working with SEND children and knowledge of phonics and the EYFS framework would be advantageous but not essential as training is given.

We are a friendly, happy and successful school, set in extensive grounds in the scenic village of South Anston. We cater for children aged 3 - 11 and currently have 240 children including those who attend part-time. Our Foundation Unit provides an important stepping stone between nursery education and full-time school, for children aged between 3 and 5. The school also has a Speech, Language and Communication Integrated Resource for children in Key Stage 1 and 2, which caters for children across the Rotherham borough who have specific needs.

We have a busy and enthusiastic learning environment where there is always much to do, see and learn. We strive to make sure everyone at our school feels valued and part of our school community. Developing the whole child is important to us and that aim is reflected in all we do. We are proud of the achievements of our children and we aim to help every child develop self-confidence and a positive approach to life whilst achieving their own individual potential.
