Playworker (Breakfast Club) job summary

The Role

Whether you are a student looking for work around your studies, currently working in childcare and seeking additional hours, or someone interested in beginning a career working with children, we would love to hear from you.

This role is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a school setting and could provide a fantastic first step into a career in education. Working as part of our Breakfast Club team will give you experience supporting children, promoting positive behaviour and helping to create an environment where children can start their school day happy, safe and ready to learn.

The role involves

The provision of a happy, safe and welcoming environment for all children attending Breakfast Club. You will assist with the day-to-day running of the club, helping children settle in, enjoy a healthy start to the day and take part in engaging activities before school begins.

You will play an important role in ensuring children feel safe, supported and ready for the school day ahead, while providing opportunities for them to socialise, play and have FUN!

The successful applicant should have:
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young children.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of an established team.
  • The ability to organise and lead simple games and activities suitable for a breakfast club environment.
  • A positive, enthusiastic and reliable approach to working with children.

Visits to our school are warmly encouraged. If you would like to book a visit, please contact operations@aldergrove.wokingham.sch.uk.

Applicants must be 17 or over. This is because, under the Ofsted-regulated Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements, staff must be at least 17 years old to be counted in statutory staff-to-child ratios. This ensures we can meet our legal duties for safeguarding, supervision and the quality of care provided.
