Ralph Allen School, part of the Palladian Academy Trust, is looking for a proactive and practical Premises Assistant to help keep our school safe, secure, well maintained and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.
Working alongside the Premises Manager, you will support the day-to-day running and maintenance of the school site. Duties will include opening and securing the premises, carrying out security checks, minor repairs and DIY, basic decorating, porterage, receiving deliveries, supporting contractors and overseeing evening lettings.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can spot what needs doing and is happy to turn their hand to a variety of practical tasks. You will need to be reliable, organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Previous caretaking, premises, or maintenance experience would be an advantage, but a positive attitude, practical DIY skills, and a can-do approach are essential. An understanding of health and safety and basic IT skills would also be beneficial.
The role is based primarily at Ralph Allen School, although occasional support at other local Palladian Academy Trust sites may be required.
We are committed to supporting the professional development of our staff and offer opportunities to learn new skills and gain experience across a broad range of premises and site management responsibilities. We also recognise the importance of work-life balance and are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements or alternative working patterns where these can be accommodated within the needs of the role and the school.
If you are practical, dependable and passionate about creating a safe and positive school environment, we would be pleased to hear from you.
Ralph Allen is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children: the successful applicant must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and will need to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS.
