We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly organised Premises Manager to lead the day-to-day management of our school site. This is a key leadership role within our support staff team, responsible for ensuring that our school provides a safe, secure, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and School Business Manager, you will oversee all aspects of premises management, maintenance, compliance, health and safety, security, grounds maintenance and Premises operations.

About the Role

As Premises Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing the premises team, including workload planning and staff supervision.
  • Ensuring the school remains fully compliant with statutory maintenance, testing and health and safety requirements.
  • Managing planned preventative maintenance programmes and overseeing contractors on Premises.
  • Maintaining the security of the school buildings and grounds, including alarm systems, access controls and out-of-hours provision.
  • Ensuring all buildings, grounds and facilities are maintained to a high standard.
  • Managing fire safety procedures, evacuation plans, drills, and compliance records.
  • Overseeing cleaning standards, COSHH compliance and the safe storage of chemicals and equipment.
  • Monitoring heating, hot water, and utility systems to ensure efficient and sustainable operation.
  • Managing grounds maintenance, litter control, drainage systems and winter weather preparations.
  • Supporting lettings, events, and community use of the school premises.
  • Promoting a strong culture of health, safety and safeguarding across the school.

We Are Looking for someone who:

  • Has substantial experience in premises, facilities, or premises management.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation, compliance requirements and risk management.
  • Has experience of managing staff, contractors, and external service providers.
  • Possesses strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Can prioritise workloads effectively and respond calmly to emergencies.
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards across all aspects of the school environment.
  • Has good communication skills and can work collaboratively with staff, contractors and external agencies.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
