What skills and experience we're looking for
Join us in inspiring the lively little learners at Harris Academy Chobham as a SEN Teacher, contributing to the delivery of the curriculum for pupils with additional needs by identifying and adopting the most effective teaching approaches.
Our dedicated team provides a supportive network both onsite as well as support across the Federation to ensure all our staff feel encouraged to do their best. You will be part of a community of dedicated, friendly staff standing by and upholding its mission in creating and maintaining a supportive and thriving learning environment.
We would like to hear from you if you have:
- QTS (or equivalent) and an undergraduate degree
- Successful experience of teaching the primary curriculum
- Relevant experience in SEN.
- A proven track record of recent and successful class teaching in mixed ability classes including implementation of support for high needs students with SEN.
- Good understanding of child development and progression and how this is impacted by SEN.
- Successful experience of delivering learning activities to students with ASD, SLCN and complex cognitive learning differences.
- Understanding of effective strategies for managing behaviour within the classroom and in accordance with the school's policy.
- Experience of working with, and implementing advice from, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and other professionals.

The purpose of your role will be:
- To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support the subject area as appropriate.
- To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students.
- To provide a motivating and structured learning experience, which will provide students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
- To contribute significantly to raising standards of students' attainment as a teacher and form tutor.

Chobham Academy opened in September 2013 as part of the Harris Federation. Our 3-18 academy is a world class educational legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Situated within the East Village complex, the academy serves the community newly established in 2,800 new homes, along with existing communities in Newham and Waltham Forest.
