We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher to join the caring, supportive and committed staff team at our successful and popular school, initially to teach a Year 2 class on a 0.8 contract. (Four days)

We welcome applications from ECTs and can offer effective early career support and mentoring.

More experienced teachers are also very welcome to apply, in which case this will be a 0.6 post, (in a 3 day block).

We are looking for someone who:

  • has the enthusiasm and the ability to inspire and engage children, irrespective of their needs or aptitudes;
  • has high expectations and is committed to improving outcomes for all pupils;
  • is prepared to liaise closely with colleagues, families and outside agencies;
  • has a sound understanding of the primary curriculum and of how children can be effectively supported in their learning;
  • is reflective and committed to ongoing professional development;

What the school offers its staff

In return, we offer the following:

  • an extremely positive working environment where staff care for one another and new staff are warmly welcomed;
  • a team of excellent teachers and teaching assistants to learn from and work with;
  • wonderful, well-behaved pupils, who engage enthusiastically with their learning and reflect our three core values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience;
  • a wider community of colleagues, governors and families who share our commitment to achieving the best outcomes for the children in our care;
  • ongoing professional development opportunities;
  • spacious classrooms and enormous school grounds, which include a woodland, a pond and an allotment;
  • an exciting curriculum to teach, with some flexibility within it to adapt to teachers’ and pupils’ interests and needs.

We received an extremely positive Ofsted inspection in February 2023, maintaining our status as a Good School; we encourage you to read it, to give you a flavour of some our strengths and of the character of the school.

Manorbrook Primary School is situated in the small (but rapidly growing) town of Thornbury, just north of Bristol. The ongoing growth of the town has meant that in contrast to falling rolls in certain parts of the region, demand for Thornbury primary school places has remained high.
As a result of this growth, and of our popularity in the community, Manorbrook is a growing school.
