Principal job summary

Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School is a happy, caring and inclusive Catholic primary school located in Coventry. The school is part of The Romero Catholic Academy and is dedicated to creating a Christian community where Gospel values are actively practiced. The school aims to provide the best experiences and opportunities for all children, fostering their academic, spiritual, and social development.

The school works closely with the local parish, Corpus Christi Church, and Saint Anne’s a sister school in the parish, to support the religious education and spiritual growth of its students.

The Board of Directors, in partnership with the Local Governing Body, seeks an innovative and vibrant leader who will embrace and enjoy all that has been achieved at Corpus Christi. We are looking for a Principal who will ensure that in a fast-changing educational landscape, the school continues to develop a reputation as a ‘beacon of excellence for Catholic Education.’

The successful candidate will be a practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to the ethos and values of Catholic education. They will have a proven track record of leadership and management in a primary school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the school.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that reflects our Catholic values.
  • Ensure high standards of teaching and learning across the school.
  • Manage school resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Engage with parents, the parish, Saint Anne’s Catholic primary school and the wider community to support the school's mission.
  • Promote the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of all pupils.
  • Deepen and strengthen the ethos and purpose of Catholic education.
  • Raise the profile of the school within the wider community as part of the Romero MAC and the Coventry and Nuneaton Catholic Schools’ Partnership.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant NPQ
  • Significant experience in a leadership role within a primary school.
  • Proven record of successful leadership in improving provision and outcomes for pupils.
  • Strong understanding of the principles and practices of Catholic education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Resilient and enjoys positive wellbeing and health.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff and pupils.
  • Secure understanding of school improvement, including the importance of system leadership.
  • Clear understanding and knowledge of how to create and improve opportunities for all pupils, including the most vulnerable, to achieve their vocation by ensuring the highest quality education and enrichment.
