What skills and experience we're looking for
Windsor Forest Colleges Group is seeking an experienced Plumbing & Gas professional with proven team leadership experience to lead and develop our Plumbing & Gas apprenticeship provision within the Apprenticeships Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an established industry professional, experienced assessor or team leader looking to take ownership of a specialist training provision and drive high standards of delivery, quality and learner achievement.
Based at our Slough & Langley College campus, this full time, permanent position offers a salary between £47,456 (M38) and £50,701 (M41) on the Support Staff pay scale, depending on your experience and qualifications.
In this key leadership role, reporting to the Head of Apprenticeships, you will take operational responsibility for the quality, performance and continuous improvement of our Plumbing & Gas apprenticeship provision, leading and developing your team to ensure high standards of training and learner achievement.
Your responsibilities will span team management, curriculum planning, and standardisation, alongside monitoring learner progress to drive overall retention and achievement. You will also oversee quality assurance across the department by leading EQA visits, managing IQA processes, liaising with awarding bodies, and contributing to Self Assessment Reviews and Quality Improvement Plans.
Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will train, coach and assess a caseload of apprentices against industry standards, conducting progress reviews, identifying at-risk learners and implementing timely interventions to support their success at End Point Assessment. You will also build strong relationships with local and national employers to ensure our curriculum meets industry needs.
We are seeking an experienced Plumbing & Gas professional with an appropriate vocational qualification or degree in Plumbing, Domestic Heating & Gas, alongside a recognised Assessor qualification (e.g. A1, TAQA, CAVA). You will have proven team leadership or coaching experience, a sound understanding of apprenticeship quality assurance, and experience using digital platforms for teaching, assessment and learner progress tracking. A Level 5 Teaching Qualification, or willingness to work towards one, is desirable.
Please pay particular attention to the supporting statement of the application, making sure to include details of how you meet each of the essential criteria listed on the person specification.
