Hans Price Academy is looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Programme Leader of Computer Science to lead the development of an engaging, challenging and inclusive Computer Science curriculum. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the direction of the subject and inspire students to develop the knowledge, confidence and digital skills they need for their future. 

As our Programme Leader of Computer Science, you will take the strategic lead on curriculum development, teaching, learning and assessment across the curriculum area. You will lead and support colleagues, drive high standards and take responsibility for ensuring that every student has access to high-quality teaching and the opportunity to achieve their full potential. This closely reflects the JD's responsibility for the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum and for monitoring the quality of teaching and learning. 

You will play an important role in championing Computer Science across the academy, developing a culture of high expectations, curiosity and continuous improvement. Through effective leadership, use of assessment and progress information, and support and development of colleagues, you will help ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of all learners and prepares students for their next steps. 

This is an exciting opportunity to lead Computer Science as part of our wider Work Related Learning Department, with responsibility for vocational subjects including Creative iMedia and Travel & Tourism, as well as holding the key role of E-Safety Lead.

About you 

You will have: 

  • a degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). 
  • expert subject knowledge in Computer Science, with a strong understanding of curriculum design, sequencing and differentiation for all learners. 
  • successful experience of leading a curriculum team or department, with evidence of positively impacting student outcomes.  
  • the ability to lead, support and evaluate teaching and learning, setting high expectations and promoting continuous improvement. 
  • experience of using assessment and progress data to inform curriculum planning, interventions and improvement strategies.  
  • experience of curriculum and assessment development, including moderation and evaluation. 
  • the ability to coach, mentor and support the professional development of colleagues. 
  • strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents and external stakeholders. 
  • an understanding of inclusive practice and how to support learners with additional needs, including SEN and EAL.  
  • a commitment to safeguarding, equality of opportunity and creating a positive, respectful learning environment.
