Shenley Brook End School is seeking to appoint an outstanding Progress Leader with an ability to teach across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. The successful candidate will have a real drive to deliver exciting and innovative lessons and will be keen to Lead Progress within our school community. Applications are welcome from experienced teachers in their own specialism.

The role of a Progress Leader is to take a lead in supporting the holistic development of students within one year group encompassing all aspects of their life in school to engender a sense of whole school community and identity, and to scrutinise their journey through the school.

The purpose is to maximise the academic progress that a student can make and personal qualities, as part of an all-round experience within school that encourages full participation in the life of the school through the championing of extended learning opportunities and the support and development of their personal, social and emotional growth through whole school experiences and projects.

To achieve these aims, each Progress Leader will lead a group of 10 form tutors within a specific year group. By liaising with the relevant Year Leader and other staff as appropriate, they will create a structured programme for Form Tutors and lead the tutors in supporting their tutees.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Monitor students’ academic progress and share this information with tutors, jointly identifying those students requiring support or intervention and implementing an appropriate programme;
  • Work in partnership with a Year Leader to monitor students’ academic progress, behaviour, attendance and punctuality and provide support to all students across one year group in these areas.
  • Mentor key students within the year group and regularly communicating with other key stakeholders, including parents and teachers.
  • Create a programme for form tutors to work with their tutees during tutor time and leading tutor meetings. You will lead the team of tutors to ensure high quality provision during form time and the tutor team are supporting the pastoral needs of their tutees.
