Essential Requirements
- National Award for SEN Coordination / National Professional Qualification for Special Educational Needs Coordinators (or working towards)
- Proven experience as a SENCo
- Strong understanding of SEND Code of Practice and current legislation
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple settings
- Strong time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively across multiple settings
- Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based SEN interventions and strategies for different areas of need
- Experience in supporting schools to implement and evaluate the impact of SEND interventions

Are you passionate about ensuring every child with special educational needs receives the support they deserve? The Worksop Family of Schools is seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCo to take up the ‘role’ of Family Senco and join our collaborative network of schools.
About the Role
The Family SENCo serves as the key liaison between individual schools and the Local Authority, coordinatingresources,sharing expertiseand ensuring consistent high-quality SEND provision across ourlargefamily of schools –18 primary and 2 secondaryschools

This role, recognised as good practice by theDfE, offers the unique opportunity to influence SEND provision across multiple settings whilst being supported by Nottinghamshire’s robust Family of Schools structure. The post will be ‘hosted’ by St Luke’s School and the successful applicant will be able to work from any school dependent on their workload priorities each week.
Essential Responsibilities
- Act as the point of contact between the Local Authority and our Family of Schools
- Co-ordinate family-wide moderation to ensure fair allocation of AFN (Additional Family Needs) funding
- Oversee HLN (High Level Needs) panel requests and emergency applications
- Organise and lead termly Family SENCo meetings
- Attend District SENCo Network events and springboard meetings
- Support schools in maintaining compliant SEND policies and annual information reports
- Represent SENCo andHeadteacherviews at district level
- Contribute to district moderation events and provide data to inform strategic decisions
- Ensure that the LAis providedwith FAM data
- Visit schools to monitor the use of AFN resources, and to provide support toSENCos.
- Coordinate SEND training needs and delivery
- Visit schools to share best practice and monitor resource use
- Ensure all schools remain informed of legislative changes, Local Authority updates, and emerging SEND developments
Desirable Activities (by agreement)
- Mentor and support new SENCos joining the family
- Provide guidance on complex casework
- Contribute to county-wide SEND development initiatives
- Advise on and support the implementation of evidence-based SEN interventions across the family of schools
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and provide guidance on adapting provision to meet individual pupil needs
