What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you an experienced and inspiring teacher with a passion for Catholic education, early learning and high-quality curriculum leadership?

We are seeking a dedicated, positive and ambitious senior staff member to join our vibrant school community as RE Leader and Phase Leader for EYFS and Year 1. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong classroom practitioner who is ready to work closely with the senior leadership team to strengthen the Catholic life of the school, lead Religious Education across the curriculum and help shape the early educational experience of our youngest children.

We want you to come and teach in our amazing school where we work hard to improve the life chances of every child. Due to members of our senior team moving on to leadership roles in other schools, we are looking for someone who has a genuine desire to help drive the school’s Catholic mission in education to a truly outstanding level.

Make sure you think hard before you apply. You must be truly committed to making a difference in the lives of children who may be experiencing gaps in their development due to school absence, wider social factors or because they have recently arrived in the country. We work hard to help our children settle into school, grow in confidence and make strong progress academically, socially and spiritually.

Who We Are Looking For

  • A qualified teacher with QTS and a successful track record of strong classroom practice.
  • A teacher with at least three years of successful teaching experience, ideally including experience in EYFS and/or Key Stage 1.
  • Someone with experience of Catholic education, or a strong commitment to leading within a Catholic school context.
  • A leader with secure knowledge of Religious Education and the confidence to inspire pupils and colleagues.

About the Role

  • Lead Religious Education across the school, ensuring high-quality teaching, curriculum coherence and strong outcomes for pupils.
  • Support and strengthen the Catholic life and mission of the school, including prayer, worship, liturgy and links with the parish community.
  • Lead the EYFS and Year 1 phase, ensuring excellent provision, strong routines, effective assessment and a smooth transition from early years into Key Stage 1.

What the school offers its staff

Why Join Our School?

  • At St Joseph’s, we are committed to providing an excellent Catholic education that nurtures academic progress, spiritual development and personal growth.
  • We have a warm, friendly and devoted staff team with strong routines, high expectations and a culture of enjoyable, innovative learning informed by research and effective practice.
  • Staff development is a priority. We actively support leadership growth and career progression, and we are proud that members of our senior team have moved on to more senior leadership roles.
  • We value people with energy, humour, integrity and strong ideas - people who can bring clarity, warmth and drive to the work of school improvement.
