Receptionist - Wavertree Hub
King’s Leadership Academy Wavertree & King’s Leadership Academy Phoenix
Permanent | Term Time Only | 37 hours per week
Actual Salary: £21,588 - £21,930
Start Date: September 2026
Every great school has someone at the front who quietly keeps the universe from collapsing. At the Great Schools Trust Wavertree Hub, that person could be you.
We are looking for a brilliant Receptionist to join our growing Wavertree family, working across King’s Leadership Academy Wavertree and King’s Leadership Academy Phoenix. The two academies are just across the road from each other, so there is no need for hiking boots.
This is a key front-of-house role. You will be the first smile, the calm voice on the phone, the organiser of visitors, messages, meetings and “can you just…” moments. You will help make sure parents, carers, students, staff and visitors feel welcomed, supported and professionally looked after from the moment they arrive.
What you’ll be doing
You will provide a warm, professional reception service across both academies, handling enquiries in person, by phone and by email. You will support visitor management, safeguarding procedures, room bookings, hospitality, shared inboxes, records, messages and general administration. In short, you will help make the Wavertree Hub work beautifully.
We’re looking for someone who is
- Professional, organised and welcoming
- Calm under pressure, even when three people need you at once, and the phone has developed opinions
- Discreet, trustworthy and confident handling of sensitive information
- Flexible and happy to work across both sites
- A strong communicator with good ICT and administration skills
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Someone who believes small details matter because, in schools, they really do
Experience in a reception, customer service, school office or administrative role would be helpful. A good standard of english and maths is essential. A first aid qualification or experience using school systems such as Bromcom would be a bonus.
Why join us?
At Great Schools Trust, we believe excellence is not a slogan. It is built through daily habits, strong relationships, clear routines and people who care enough to do the job properly.
You will join a Trust that values staff wellbeing, professional development and a culture rooted in our ASPIRE values: Aspiration, Self-awareness, Professionalism, Integrity, Respect and Endeavour.
You will also be joining the Wavertree Hub at an exciting stage of its development, supporting two academies with a shared commitment to character, leadership and transforming young people’s futures.
The working pattern
New to education? Here’s the lovely bit: this is a term-time only role, so you work during the 38 weeks that school is open and enjoy around 14 weeks away from work each year during the school holidays. The role also includes 30 days’ paid annual leave, plus bank holidays, which are taken outside of term time.
The usual pattern will involve working at King’s Phoenix in the morning and King’s Wavertree in the afternoon, with a 30-minute break each day. On Mondays, the start time is slightly earlier to support opening, preparation and handover arrangements. Further details in the Recruitment Guide attached.
