Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) is looking for a Regional Commercial Procurement Manager to join our Procurement team and help us deliver real value for the academies and communities we serve.
This is a chance to own a varied portfolio of procurement projects and act as the go-to commercial expert for your region — leading tenders from design through to contract commencement, and building the kind of trusted relationships with schools, suppliers and stakeholders.
As Regional Commercial Procurement Manager, you'll deliver an end-to-end business partnering service across our large academy customer base, helping bring the Trust's Commercial Strategy to life through a multi-year programme of prioritised regional tenders. Within your portfolio, you will develop commercial strategies with academies and central teams, running compliant and competitive tender processes, and ensure contracts are set up for success from day one.
You'll also be a key source of assurance for the Head of Commercial Procurement, the National Leadership Group and Trustees, helping the Trust demonstrate value for money, supplier alignment, and compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks including the Procurement Act 2023.
About you
You're an experienced public procurement professional — MCIPS qualified (or equivalent), degree-educated, or simply highly experienced at senior category/procurement manager level with a strong grounding in PCR2015/PA2023. You’ll have a track record of managing complex, concurrent tenders.
You are an experienced, self-motivated procurement professional with a ‘customer-first’ mind-set to work with the Head of Commercial Procurement (HoCP), delivering an end-to-end business partnering service across our large Academy customer base alongside Central Team specialists in Estates, School Improvement, Finance and ICT.
You will be able to draft robust tender clauses, spot and mitigate commercial risk, and turn spend and market data into a smart procurement strategy. Just as importantly, you're a natural relationship-builder: confident influencing senior stakeholders, comfortable working independently as a remote-based ‘trusted advisor', and genuinely curious about the commodity markets and challenges facing the schools you support.
