Reset Base Manager job summary
The role of the Reset Base Manager is to work to raise standards of student behaviour and conduct throughout the school day, both in the classroom, around school. You will be ensuring that the Reset Base is a highly structured and disciplined environment where students can reflect and reset their behaviours, so that learning in the academy remains undisrupted.
Longsands Academy is an 11-18 fully-inclusive secondary school serving the community of St Neots and the surrounding area. The academy has around 1750 students including 250 in the Sixth Form. Longsands is proud of its inclusive and aspirational approach, whether that is in supporting students preparing for Oxbridge or working with students with special educational needs. The academy also has a strong track record of supporting of staff by ensuring excellent mentoring, a supportive culture and many opportunities for development and involvement in wider school activities.

Role Purpose
Ensuring that the Reset Base is a highly structured and disciplined environment where students can reflect and reset their behaviours so that learning in the academy remains undisrupted. They will ensure the room protocols and expectations are adhered to by staff supervising and running the room. Supervise the Reset Base on a rota basis with Senior Leadership Team and Pastoral colleagues and support the operational running of the Reset Base with due regard to the Base protocols and expectations.
Work with the Senior Leadership Team in raising standards of student behaviour and conduct within the SEND and Behaviour provisions Ensure student lists are populated and managed through Bromcom / Pastoral Team. This includes the management of lists for students repeating the day / remaining for a portion of the following day
Ensure parents/carers receive updates during the placement if their child is at risk from escalating towards a suspension by the pastoral and senior leadership team Ensure students receive high quality (and differentiated) academic work that matches the curriculum they follow to ensure continuity of learning for the duration of their placement
Obtain student voice through restorative work to support restoration with staff members and reduce the likelihood of a repeat placement or escalation to suspension Ensure students are supported by the SENDCO and the inclusion team to consider reasonable allowances and adjustments to support students being successful while on placement
Support pastoral, curriculum and attendance teams in empowering students to make the right choices about their own learning, behaviour, punctuality and attendance Support teaching staff in the implementation of the The Astrea Behaviour and Culture Framework Work with the Senior Leadership Team in the development and monitoring of strategies and procedures for improving and maintaining student behaviour and conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with pastoral and curriculum staff in maintaining our core routines, supporting in our Reset room and supporting students in understanding and applying our behaviour curriculum
- Use the behaviour dashboard to find areas/periods of concern where support is required
- Support students in meeting our core routines by visiting students/lessons
- Re-engage students with their learning in the classroom
- Manage students displaying challenging behaviour
- Use a range of strategies and techniques to de-escalate negative behaviour throughout the provision
