What skills and experience we're looking for

You will beresponsible for delivering high-quality, personalised teaching to students with additional educational needs, ensuring access to a broad and balanced curriculum. They plan, adapt, and assess learning in line with individual education plans (IEPs) or EHCPs, using targeted strategies to support academic progress and personal development. The role requires close collaboration with subject teachers, support staff, and external professionals to ensure a coordinated and inclusive approach to learning. The teacher will create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that promotes independence, confidence, and positive behaviour. They are expected to monitor and track student progress rigorously, using data to inform teaching and interventions. Effective communication with parents and carers is essential, providing regular updates on progress, well-being, and next steps. Additionally, the teacher contributes to whole-school inclusion by promoting best practice, supporting staff development, and ensuring that students in the Resource Base are fully integrated into the wider school community wherever appropriate.

The John of Gaunt School is large and dynamic school with approximately 1270 students on roll.
