You will be part of a supportive team that prioritises continuous professional development and a strong team ethos, working closely with the Principal, Senior Leadership Team, and external agencies to ensure consistent, sound support throughout the Academy.
The Role
Location: Hartsholme Primary Academy, Lincoln
Salary Scale:Scale 6, Points 18-22 (£32,578 - £34,811 FTE / £28,703 - £30,670 (Actual)
Contract Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week - Term time + 10 days
Reports to:SLT / Academy Principal

As the Safeguarding and Well-being Officer, you will take a proactive role in leading the day-to-day operational safeguarding procedures providing a first point of contact for child protection, or welfare concerns across the Academy. Serving as a nominated Designated Deputy Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), you will build strong working relationships with children, parents/carers, and external partners to ensure high standards of pastoral care and child protection.
Key Responsibilities
Policy & Safeguarding Leadership: Act as DDSL, implement child protection policies, champion best practice, respond to disclosures, and maintain accurate, confidential records.
Rapid Response & Triage: Provide a first point of contact and rapid response for child protection and welfare concerns across the Academy.
Multi-Agency & External Partnerships: Initiate and coordinate multi-agency referrals, act as Lead Professional in Team Around the Child meetings, and liaise closely with Children's Services and statutory agencies.
Family & Pupil Support: Work directly with children and families to strengthen relationships, secure early help, support care arrangements, and assist in closing the attainment gap for Pupil Premium groups.
Data, Risk & Assessments: Complete professional assessments of need and risk, compile statistical reports on student groups, develop 'At Risk' registers, and assist with safeguarding training.
The Person: What We Are Looking For
We are seeking an experienced practitioner who is organised, approachable, and deeply committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of children.
Essential Requirements:
5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths, alongside evidence of recent professional development.
Recent DSL training (or willingness to obtain) with comprehensive knowledge of Child Protection procedures, statutory guidance, and Ofsted frameworks.
Proven experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and families within a school, social work, or youth work environment.
Ability to handle complex cases, produce concise reports, complete risk assessments, and maintain strict confidentiality.
Excellent time management, communication, and relationship-building skills to engage positively in team environments.
A deep commitment to safeguarding and Harbour Learning Trust's DANCE values.
Desirable Requirements:
A Level qualifications or equivalent.
Post-qualifying training or first degree in social work, teaching, counselling, psychology, youth work, or a related field.
