School Minibus Driver / Site Team Assistant

Part Time | Term Time Only + INSET Days | 18 Hours per Week

Location: Stony Dean School, Amersham
Salary: Bucks Pay Range 2, Actual Salary £10,942 per annum
Hours: Monday and Friday, approximately 7:30am - 4:45pm
Reporting to: Site Manager

Stony Dean School is a thriving and supportive special school for pupils with learning difficulties aged 11 to 19. We are looking for a reliable, practical, and enthusiastic individual to join our Site Team as a School Minibus Driver / Site Team Assistant.

This is a varied and rewarding role that combines the safe transportation of students with supporting the upkeep, maintenance, and security of our school site. No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on role and takes pride in contributing to the smooth running of a school community.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

School Minibus Driving

• Safely transporting students on designated morning and afternoon routes.
• Driving pupils on educational visits, sporting fixtures, and school events.
• Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of passengers at all times.
• Completing vehicle safety checks and maintaining accurate records.
• Reporting any vehicle defects, incidents, or concerns promptly.

Site Support

• Assisting with the opening and locking of the school site.
• Carrying out minor maintenance, repairs, decorating, and general DIY tasks.
• Supporting room setups for examinations, assemblies, and events.
• Moving furniture, equipment, and deliveries around the site.
• Maintaining safe and tidy outdoor areas, including winter gritting and snow clearance when required.

Health, Safety and Safeguarding

• Following all Health and Safety, COSHH, and fire safety procedures.
• Promoting a safe and secure environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
• Adhering to the school's safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

Holds a full, clean UK driving licence

Has practical maintenance, DIY, or caretaking skills

Is organised, reliable, and able to work independently

Has excellent communication skills and a positive attitude

Enjoys working as part of a supportive team

Has a friendly and professional approach when interacting with pupils, parents, and staff

Desirable Experience

• MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) qualification
• Previous experience within a school or educational setting
• Emergency First Aid at Work qualification
• Experience of site maintenance or caretaking duties
