‘This is a school where staff care deeply about the well-being of the pupils who come here’ Ofsted 2019

With our distinctive community feel, modern learning environment and a staff team focused on the future we believe we have something really special – all we need is you!

Barrowcliff is a well-established primary school within the Scarborough community. Our staff travel not just locally but from within the East Riding, Whitby and beyond. As a large school of over 300 children we strive to make sure that our staff are challenged and developed – and play their part on our improvement journey.

Our opportunity
We are looking to appoint to the permanent post of School Receptionist for our busy school office.

You will be a dedicated and passionate colleague who will be ‘the face and voice’ of our wonderful school.

Working closely with our School Business Manager and Senior Administrator you will be the first point of contact for parents, children and school visitors. With your passion for delivering great customer service, you will create a positive atmosphere and professional impression that reflects our core values and ethos.

The role is varied and fast paced and will involve not only working on our busy reception, but also dealing with a variety of administrative activities. The ability to prioritise effectively is a must, as are strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Alongside our staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.

Some of the typical work activities are as follows:
• Assisting with managing reception and provide hospitality when required for visitors or meetings.
• Assisting with any general enquiries received from parents or visitors by phone, email or in person.
• Providing an efficient administrative service supporting the smooth running of the school.
• Administration relating to school meals including providing the kitchen with daily numbers, taking payment from parents, reconciling our online payment system Parentpay, and chasing debts.
• Administration relating to the management of First Aid including checking of kits, ordering stock and the completion of medical forms.

The ideal candidate will:
• Have relevant qualifications and experience relating to office administration.
• Knowledge/experience of RM Integris and Parentpay systems would be an advantage.
• Have practical experience of customer service.
• Be willing to take part in relevant CPD.
• Be able to work with outside agencies and communicate with parents.
• Be able to be flexible and adapt day to day.
Additional requirements:
• Two references confirming suitability for the role.
• Commitment to safeguarding.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• Able to provide evidence of police checks for any time spent living or working abroad.

Benefits
• Support from dedicated and knowledgeable staff.
• Commitment to your continued professional development through training.
• A warm, happy school where we value our community and have a philosophy of kindness and support for each other.
• Happy, enthusiastic and well-behaved children.
• A school with exciting and attractive learning environments.
• An opportunity to work with a close-knit team.
• A leadership team who welcome fresh ideas, traditional values and a sense of teamwork.

We are committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Closing date: Monday 16th May at 9.00am.

Interviews will be held as soon as possible after the closing date.
