About the Role

We are seeking a committed and ambitious Science Teacher to join our secondary school. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving student outcomes, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, and contributing to continued school improvement.

You will deliver consistently high-quality lessons that support progress, attainment, and engagement, with a clear focus on raising achievement in line with school priorities and inspection expectations.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching, Progress & Outcomes
  • Deliver high-quality Science teaching across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable depending on experience).
  • Plan sequences of learning that secure strong progress for all learners.
  • Use assessment data effectively to identify gaps and accelerate student progress.
  • Ensure teaching consistently leads to strong attainment and positive progress measures.
  • Provide timely, accurate feedback that drives improvement and supports examination success.
  • Set ambitious, data-informed targets and monitor student performance closely.
Quality of Education
  • Deliver lessons that are well-structured, purposeful, and aligned to curriculum intent.
  • Ensure learning is adapted to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and disadvantaged students.
  • Maintain consistently high expectations for effort, behaviour, and achievement.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of curriculum resources and schemes of work.
Classroom Practice & Behaviour for Learning
  • Maintain a calm, purposeful learning environment in line with school expectations.
  • Apply behaviour policies consistently to ensure disruption-free learning.
  • Establish strong routines that maximise learning time and student engagement.
School Improvement & Wider Contribution
  • Contribute to raising achievement across the Science department and wider school.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and improve teaching quality.
  • Support whole-school priorities, including literacy, numeracy, and disadvantaged student outcomes.
  • Contribute to intervention strategies aimed at improving attainment and closing gaps.
Pastoral & Wider Responsibilities
  • Undertake form tutor responsibilities, supporting attendance, behaviour, and personal development.
  • Contribute to PSHE and wider character education programmes.
  • Participate in duties, cover supervision, and whole-school expectations.
  • Engage with parents and carers to support student progress and outcomes.
About You

We are looking for a teacher who is:

  • Confident in using assessment and data to drive progress.
  • Able to deliver consistently strong teaching in line with Ofsted expectations.
  • Reflective, resilient, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • A strong team player with a clear focus on raising standards.
Essential Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree in Science or related subject.
  • Strong knowledge of KS3-KS4 Science curriculum.
  • Evidence of improving student progress and attainment (ECTs considered).
