  • Understanding and knowledge of current issues relating to education.

  • A good, up to date knowledge of a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies and how to adapt them

    • Evidence of managing one or more curriculum areas

    • Evidence of teaching pupils with special educational needs and disabilities

    • Practical understanding of the range of behaviour that pupils with SEN and ASC present

    • Knowledge of the National Curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4

    • Evidence of teaching Science for Key Stage 4.

    The Oaks Secondary School is a large, vibrant special school for pupils aged 11–19 with a wide range of needs, including moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, and Autism Spectrum Conditions. The school has been judged Outstanding by Ofsted in its last four inspections and is proud of its strong, supportive, and nurturing ethos.
