About the role
Working under the direction of the Senior Science Technician you will provide technical and administrative support to the teaching staff.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Maintain adequate supplies of materials across the department and assist with the ordering of supplies.
- Perform routine cleaning, day-to-day maintenance and direct functional checks on equipment to ensure it is ready for use
- Store all apparatus safely and securely.
- Adhere strictly to Health and Safety regulations, including COSHH procedures for the safe handling, treatment and disposal of hazardous substances and used materials.
- Complete basic record-keeping, administrative duties and assist teachers in setting up or delivering practical learning activities.
- Promote and maintain the safety, welfare and safeguarding of all students in line with school and pathway trust policies.
About you
We are looking for someone with a good standard of general education who wants to join a friendly, collaborative team. You will:
- Possess a basic understanding of laboratory materials, equipment and safety guidelines, including COSHH standards.
- Be capable of executing detailed instructions accurate to specifications under the guidance of senior staff.
- Manage tasks efficiently with a practical, solution-focused approach.
- Build clear, positive working relationships with pupils, departmental peers, and colleagues across the trust.
- Act as a positive role model for students while complying with all trust and school policies.
- Be willing to engage in ongoing personal and professional development.
