Science Technician job summary

We are seeking to appoint a motivated, proactive and highly organised Science Technician to join our successful Science Department at North Brent School. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting high-quality practical science provision across KS3-5 within a school driven by the vision of “Achievement for All.”

The Role

Our technician team plays a vital role in ensuring that practical science lessons are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard. Technicians work closely with teaching staff to support excellent practical provision, curriculum innovation and science enrichment opportunities.

As a Science Technician, you will:

Prepare, set up and clear away apparatus, chemicals and practical resources

Support practical activities, demonstrations and experiments across KS3-5

Assist with the preparation of A Level practical work and advanced practical activities

Maintain laboratories, prep rooms and departmental stock

Trial and prepare practical activities and demonstrations

Support students in developing key practical scientific skills

Ensure compliance with health and safety guidance, including CLEAPSS and COSHH regulations

Contribute to science enrichment activities, clubs, open evenings and outreach events

Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider technician team to support outstanding teaching and learning
