About the department

Pupils are taught separate Biology, Chemistry and Physics classes from Year 9, by a subject specialist. There is a strong up-take of Triple Science at GCSE Science. A-Level Physics has a high take-up and achievement is promoted at all levels; every year a significant number of students secure places to study Sciences at university. The department takes an active lead in the whole-school STEM programme, including CREST Awards.

The Science department contributes significantly to the St Marylebone Teaching School and the department is the lead subject area for school to school support in the Triborough and across the Alliance, CPD and in delivery of SLP courses.

About the School

Founded in 1791, The St Marylebone CE School is an outstanding comprehensive school for girls with a mixed sixth form, serving students of all faiths or no faith. St Marylebone takes pride in being a brilliant place to work and learn: rated consistently ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted and SIAMS, the School is one of the best-performing state schools nationally.  We value highly the role of the arts and creativity in education, across the curriculum.  We lead the regional Maths Hub, the Creativity Collaborative for London and St Marylebone Outreach, through which we collaborate with other schools to develop the best in teaching and learning.

The 6th Form is a dynamic and exciting place to work and learn, serving 330 students, a mixture of boys and girls, some who were previously St Marylebone Year 11s and others who join us new in Year 12.  Every member of staff plays a role in making the 6th Form a community in its own right, as well as promoting its connections with Key Stages 3 and 4.
