What skills and experience we're looking for

The Governors wish to appoint a skilled and suitably experienced professional to work as part of the school’s Inclusion Team. This is a role which supports and supervises students who may have difficulties fully engaging with their learning resulting in removal from lesson to our Seclusion room, ‘Damascus’. The Damascus and On Call Lead will support students to reflect on their behaviours and explore with them strategies to re-engage positively in classroom learning whilst maintaining the highest standards and expectations of behaviour whilst in the Damascus room. It will be the responsibility of the Damascus and On Call Lead to manage the whole learning environment ensuring it is a safe, calm, and productive space, fully resourced so that all students are engaged in relevant curriculum materials.

The Damascus and On Call lead will also oversee the On Call system ensuring there are effective channels of communication which result in a swift response to requests for assistance from classroom teachers. Continual monitoring, evaluation and review of the management of the Damascus room will be an integral part of this role ensuring that systems, processes and practice are regularly refined in order to ensure highly effective provision with tangible outcomes for those students struggling to engage positively in the classroom. This role will require a proactive, resilient and relational approach to supporting young people.
