SEND 1:1 MDSA Role - £3,130.21 actual basic salary (pay award pending)
Hours: TA role 25 hours a week & MDSA 5 hours a week
Contract: Fixed term from 2nd September 2025 until 31st August 2026
Responsible to: Headteacher/Senior Leadership Team
St Joseph and St Teresa Catholic Primary School is seeking to appoint an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a child in Reception who has an EHCP, with a particular focus on supporting communication and language needs.
This is a fixed term appointment based on funding until 31st August 2026
Desirable skills/experience:
Has experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ideally in an Early Years setting.
Can help to adapt the curriculum and create engaging, accessible learning opportunities tailored to the child’s individual needs.
Is proactive and able to use their initiative to introduce creative and effective approaches to learning.
Makaton training is desirable, though not essential.
Experience of working in an educational setting.
Supportive of mental health needs within children.
Ability to work in a team to support and create the best experience for children to enable them to meet their full potential.
Be flexible to do a range of tasks and to use own initiative when required.
Knowledge of how to incorporate visual and concrete resources into planning to support learning would be of use.
Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE or ‘O’ Level Grade C or above or equivalent).
Work within, and act upon, the advice of class teacher and SENCo.
Have experience of working with children.
Be an excellent communicator and team player.
Work within our school’s rigorous safeguarding policies and procedures.
Remain calm, confidential and professional in all situations.
