SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant job summary
The Governors are looking to appoint an exceptional Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) as soon as possible to work in our EDEN (Educational Development Emotional Nurture) provision, supporting children with additional needs, including SEND and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) challenges.
We are looking for a level 3 qualified (or higher) Teaching Assistant, who has an understanding and experience of special educational needs and extremely high expectations of both behaviour and children’s achievement, including those with complex learning needs. They should be enthusiastic and hard-working, as well as being a good team player and willing to learn ‘The St Gregory’s Way,’ which is trauma informed and based on a restorative approach to working as a team and helping children learn. Having fun in the classroom is important to us and we believe that our children learn well when they are challenged, supported, nurtured and enjoy themselves! The successful candidate will:
Contribute fully to the values, aims and ethos of our school
Have experience of working with children with SEND and those with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), using specialist strategies to support their learning and development.
Demonstrate excellent skills across the curriculum while ensuring the learning environment is highly differentiated and accessible for children with additional needs.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire, motivate and support colleagues, children and parents
Work with fellow professionals to achieve the very best outcomes for children with additional needs and those who are vulnerable for a range of reasons
Be fully supportive of the ethos of our Catholic school even if they are not themselves a practising Catholic
Be keen to take on additional responsibilities and involve themselves in the wider life of the school
