What skills and experience we're looking for
About the role:
- Our KS1 SEN Teacher will be based at our Trowbridge campus which boasts an imaginative and sensory rich outdoor Forest School, bespoke indoor sensory room, inclusive and relaxing library and ICT suite.
- You will be welcomed by a team of 15 passionate and enthusiastic SEN teachers who work closely to help support, guide and encourage each other.
- Your class will have up to 8 pupils all with a range of needs including Autism and associated needs, pre- verbal, medical, sensory and complex needs.
- You will work collaboratively with your class team to ensure that every child receives the support they need to succeed.
- You will be responsible for planning, delivering and assessing high quality lessons to a mixed age group of KS1 pupil being taught a semi-formal pathway. However, we also have Pre-Formal and Social Communication pathways taught at our Trowbridge campus.
- Adapting your teaching techniques to meet a Semi-Formal curriculum working on developing social skills, interactions and emotional regulation through structured activities using a variety of teaching methods.
We are seeking a passionate, caring and creative KS2/1Teacher who thrives on making meaningful connections and unlocking potential in every child and who:
- Commits to plan and deliver innovative and engaging lessons, tailored to the needs, abilities and learning styles of each pupil and be committed to ensuring that learning is meaningful, accessible and approachable.
- Encourage self-advocacy and promote confidence amongst our learners, implementing strategies to help pupils with social or emotional difficulties to learn in a positive and supportive environment.
- Has patience, understanding and empathy in their approach to teaching -being able to think outside the box is essential.
- Strong behaviour management skills are critical in creating a safe, productive and structured learning environment
- Has the ability to communicate instructions and feedback clearly and effectively, adapting their communication style to suit the needs of their pupils.
- Show resilience and remains calm and who is solution focused at all times throughout the day.
