SEN Teacher job summary

About this Role

Are you an excellent primary practitioner who believes every child can succeed? Do you enjoy creative problem-solving, thinking differently and finding ways to overcome barriers to learning? If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are seeking a dedicated and organised teacher to join our SEN team. Previous experience working in a specialist SEN role is not essential; full training will be provided. What matters most is your passion for teaching, your commitment to inclusion and your determination to help every pupil thrive.

This role will involve working with pupils across the infant age range through a combination of small-group and individual interventions. You will support children both within their mainstream classrooms and in our specialist teaching space, working closely with class teachers and colleagues to ensure pupils receive the support they need to succeed.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a skilled and reflective classroom practitioner.
  • Understands the importance of organisation in delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Is curious, flexible and willing to adapt their approach to meet individual needs.
  • Enjoys creative thinking and problem-solving.
  • Has excellent understanding of high quality teaching pedagogy.
  • Is determined to understand and remove barriers to learning.
  • Works collaboratively and values professional learning and development.

You will be joining a team that is relentlessly bothered about inclusion and unwavering in its commitment to ensuring every child feels valued, understood and successful. We have a professional love for the pupils we serve, high expectations for what they can achieve, and a healthy dollop of humour that helps us navigate the challenges and joys of the role together.

If you are excited by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in children's lives and want to develop your expertise in SEND within a supportive and highly skilled team, we would be delighted to receive your application.

St Nicolas’ C of E Infant School is part of the Enlighten Learning Trust and sits at the heart of its community. We enjoy excellent links with St Nicolas’ Church and our Christian ethos underpins our commitment to nurturing every pupil at our school, enabling each one to find their voice and to reach their potential academically, physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. We have high expectations, and academic achievement is important to us.

We are well-known for our close community, village-like feel, peaceful setting and quality education. It is an inclusive, welcoming and happy place in which to work and learn and our strongest resource is the effectiveness of the relationships between the adults who work here and our children. If you would like to contribute to our inclusive culture that is ambitious for every child to enjoy life in all its fullness, then we would love to hear from you.
