Actually annual salary if working 32 hours per week TTO 38 weeks + 5 INSET Days = £18,072 also SEN Allowance payable after 1 years service (£1,401 per annum pro rata). N.B The actual annual salary amount will be less if working less than 32 hours per work
The Mendip School are seeking a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to support a student with social communication and emotional needs within our KS3/4 ready-to-learn cohort.
You will build a trusting, consistent relationship, provide regular check-ins, support transitions and deliver targeted life skills, PSHE and regulation-based sessions. A nurturing, calm and flexible approach is essential, with the ability to maintain clear boundaries and lead low-demand, interest-based activities.
There will also be times where you will offer wider classroom support, helping meet pupils’ emotional, social and physical needs, supporting positive behaviour and assisting staff in delivering a differentiated curriculum.
The Mendip School is a specialist setting for pupils aged 4-19 with Autism and/or Speech, Language and Communication Needs, where children’s needs are central, aspirations are high and staff are supported to thrive.
We would encourage anyone with special school or mainstream experience to apply although full training will be given to the right candidate.

This role will include working with:
- A young person with social communication and emotional needs within a KS3/4 ready to learn class
- You will need to demonstrate a calm and patient approach, following the guidance of - teaching staff and other professionals
- An ability to positively maintain clear boundaries whilst also having flexibility of thought to problem solve
- Off-site learning and curriculum support
- Supporting other areas of the school where appropriate

The Mendip School is part of the multi-academy trust partnership known as The Partnership Trust. This status allows the school to be more autonomous and to focus on initiatives that raise aspiration and achievement for children and young people.
